Bravura Alla Prima

Alla prima is a term, originally Italian, referring to painting in a way that translates to "at first attempt." The approach involves applying paint quickly and directly, generally completing a painting in a single session. Spontaneity and confidence are part of the mix.

Bravura in painting refers to a bold and energetic style of brushwork that showcases the artist's bravery and skill. It demonstrates a spirited and expressive application of paint, allowing the physicality of the painting process to become part of the artwork itself.

These two terms and descriptors of painting sure go hand in hand. I admire and aspire to them in my work. A brave day is a good day for a painter. Cheers.
