About ‘Swimmer’
The original oil on canvas painting Swimmer was made in a studio I had at the time in Escondido, CA. Exhibited and sold at Art Expo New York in 2009. Fortunately I had a super high resolution capture made of it and so it is reborn as a limited edition giclée. I’ve added a solid lay of copper leaf where the painted background was in the 2009 piece. The expanse of the copper in the background glints and shines. Depending on the lighting conditions the copper field can appear light or dark, changing the personality of the piece to a considerable degree. In reality the model was nude with long hair; the subject lost her locks and gained the vintage bathing suit, added out of my imagination. The face, enigmatic, wistful. For what does she yearn, or remember.
